Research Unit With Fast Pulsating Or Alternating Tangential Flow (LSta05-PAC-HF)
The LSta05-PAC-HF is a research unit specified on customer request to carry out experiments in the field of micro- and ultrafiltration. Especially in the processing of complex biosuspensions or colloidal solutions such as milk or beer, occur during the crossflow filtration despite the high overflow velocities surface layers and deposits on or in the membrane. This leads to low filtration flux, ill separation characteristics and short filter life. The influence of a fast pulsating flow and a fast alternating flow (oscillating flow with reverse flow) on the surface layer in or on the membrane was investigated in the research project.
In the version described here, the unit is operated with hollow fibre membrane modules. Other modules (such as ceramic membrane, tubular membrane) can be integrated at any time. In addition to the special requirements of the research project, the flexible design enables a wide variety of application in the field of micro- and ultrafiltration.
The unit is designed as a fully automated system. All functions, process steps and measurement data are controlled, monitored and stored via a PLC. The process parameters can be adapted to the experiments at any time. All measurement and control data can optionally be extracted from the PLC and recorded, standardized and visualized via an external data acquisition system. The test data are stored in a format readable by excel.
